Joel 1:8-13

⁸Lament like a virgin^[a] ^(A)wearing sackcloth
    for the bridegroom of her youth.
⁹^(B)The grain offering and the drink offering are cut off
    from the house of the Lord.
^(C)The priests mourn,
    ^(D)the ministers of the Lord.
¹⁰The fields are destroyed,
    ^(E)the ground mourns,
because ^(F)the grain is destroyed,
    ^(G)the wine dries up,
    the oil languishes.

¹¹^(H)Be ashamed,^[b] O tillers of the soil;
    wail, O vinedressers,
for the wheat and the barley,
    ^(I)because the harvest of the field has perished.
¹²The vine dries up;
    ^(J)the fig tree languishes.
Pomegranate, palm, and apple,
    all the trees of the field are dried up,
and ^(K)gladness dries up
    from the children of man.

A Call to Repentance

¹³^(L)Put on sackcloth and lament, ^(M)O priests;
    ^(N)wail, O ministers of the altar.
Go in, ^(O)pass the night in sackcloth,
    ^(P)O ministers of my God!
^(Q)Because grain offering and drink offering
    are withheld from the house of your God.
